Kim Kardashian caught a lot of flack this week when she teased a sneak peek of her new fragrance bottle. To promote her latest product she started posting strategically placed nude photos of her body (she seemingly worked around Instagram’s no nudity rules). But she later explained that her new fragrance, KKW Body was modeled after her own body. “The next fragrance I have coming out in May, KKW Body, is so amazing. It is a sculpture, basically, of my body,” Kardashian West told Business of Fashion. “It’s really cool. The scent is so good, I’m so proud of it. It smells to me like what I would think golden smells like, even though that’s a color and something that’s just luminous.”
Kim also talked about fixing failing beauty products. “I did see a lot of people thought there wasn’t enough product. So that’s what I’m learning from the manufacturing team. I want to make the contour sticks bigger, so you can still get the kit with the little brush, and have that as an option to buy the kit, or I’m going to make separates [that are larger] in size. We’ve been working on that. I heard loud and clear that they want more products.” Kim showed off the new fragrance bottle on Snapchat. “Alright guys, I want to show you my bottle for KKW Body. So this is not the press box you guys, this is the regular box. I didn’t do press boxes because I wanted everyone to get this amazing box. I thought it was such a cool box within itself that the bottle is on a statue pedestal. Like a statue in a museum.”
The fragrance debuts on April 30th.
FYI—did you know that Kim wanted to join MTV’s The Real World. “I had worked in my dad’s office for so many years, but I didn’t have a career and I didn’t love college. I went [for] four years but I didn’t graduate. I just sat there and I was like, ‘What am I going to do? When I was really young I always was—it’s the weirdest thing, but I loved The Real World. And I would say to my best friend’s dad who was a manager, ‘You should be my manager! And when we’re 18, I’m going to send a tape into The Real World because I have to be on a reality show.'” Well, she didn’t end up needing The Real World after all.
On a side note, Kim’s new fragrance bottle is getting a little flack for resembling the Jean Paul Gaultier’s iconic Classique.
