Joan Rivers, 81 had to ruched to the hospital after she stopped breathing during a throat surgery today. According to TMZ, the legendary comedienne was undergoing a throat surgery for her vocal chords in a NYC clinic when she stopped breathing mid-surgery. She was taken to Mount Sinai hospital in New York. Her daughter, Melissa Rivers is on her way to NY to be by her mother’s side.

E! colleague, Ken Baker tweeted that the Fashion Police host is in stable condition. “Our own lovely living legend Joan Rivers is in stable condition at Mt Sinai hospital ..#LiveFromE”

Update: Melissa Rivers released a statement on the condition of her mother, who had been placed on a medically induced coma earlier in the day. “I want to thank everyone for the overwhelming love and support for my mother. She is resting comfortably and is with our family. We ask that you continue to keep her in your thoughts and prayers.”
