Jamie Lynn Sigler was a beautiful bride (who married longtime love pro baseball player Cutter Dykstra) over the weekend, but the Sopranos star revealed that she’s been battling multiple sclerosis for the past 15 years. The 34-year-old actress told People, “I wasn’t ready until now. You’d think that after all these years, somebody would be settled with something like this, but it’s still hard to accept.”

At just 20 years old doctors told her she has MS, during her stint on The Sopranos and she hid her symptoms while on other acting jobs. “Sometimes all I needed was like five or 10 minutes to sit and recharge but I wouldn’t ask, because I didn’t want them to be suspicious.” Sigler has had her fair fair of drugs since there is no cure and now relies on the twice-daily pill Tecfidera, which has kept her symptoms under control for the past six years.

Jamie discussed her day-to-day struggle. “I can’t walk for a long period of time without resting. I cannot run. No superhero roles for me. Stairs? I can do them but they’re not the easiest. When I walk, I have to think about every single step, which is annoying and frustrating.”

But the newly married Sigler has new things to look forward to. “I’m at a point in my life with my son (Beau, 2), with my new marriage, it’s a new me. I don’t want to hold a secret where it feels like I have something to be ashamed of or have something to hide. It’s part of me, but it’s not who I am.”
