Puerto Rican singer La India has been hospitalized in San Juan after being beaten by her boyfriend, police said Monday.
Authorities said that Linda Bell Viera Caballero, 44, was found by police before dawn inside a residence in the capital neighborhood of Santurce with her nose broken and a large bruise on her forehead.
The artist was taken to Pavia Hospital for medical treatment, while the aggressor, identified as 32-year-old Javier Padilla Gonzalez, owner of the residence where the beating occurred, was arrested.
Detectives are currently investigating details of the physical abuse suffered by the singer of “Mi Mayor Venganza” (My Greatest Revenge), “Dicen que Soy” (They Say That I Am), “Que Te Pedi” (What I Asked You) and “Si Vuelves Tu” (If You Come Back).
La India’s last big concert in Puerto Rico was on March 17, when she took part in the 30th National Salsa Day at San Juan’s Hiram Bithorn Stadium.
