Ruby Rose is super happy right now she didn’t decide to undergo gender reassignment surgery. “I’m a woman … I want to have babies one day, so I’m glad I didn’t make changes earlier in my life,” Rose told The EDIT in a new interview. It’s a big decision to make and Rose started saving from the surgery when she was just a little girl.

Rose felt different that the other little girls. “Everyone had Barbies; I had Ninja Turtles and Superman. I was crazy about Archie comics. I played footie with the boys.” After being bullied by the other girls for being different, Rose tried to be ‘feminine’ and she was the accused of wanting the other girls’ boyfriends then when she came out she was bullied again. “First you want our boyfriends, now you want us’ — that kind of thing. I couldn’t win.” And then Rose was sadly even beat up by boys.”They didn’t see me as a woman.”

Its sad when people feel like that have to conform to society. Ruby is a great example of someone who has learned to love being in her own skin. Gender reassignment may not have been for Ruby, but it may be for someone else—its all about choice and research.
