New details are emerging in the tragic death of actor Paul Walker. The driver of the Porsche was identified as Walker’s friend/former race car driver, Roger Rodas, as the CEO of Always Evolving, a car customization shop. Both were leaving the Reach Out Worldwide when they took the Porsche Carrera GT for a ride, lost control and the car exploded in flames. Both were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
According to the Santa Clarita Valley Signal the accident occurred around 3:30 pm on Hercules Street near Constellation Road in the Rye Canyon Business Park. An eyewitness, Antonio Holmes (a friend of Walker) said, “Him and his buddy, his brother in arms at heart just decided to joyride, take a spin. Something we all do. We’re all car enthusiasts. … We’re all here driving, enjoying each other, and God must’ve needed help. We all heard from our location (the accident). It’s a little difficult to know what it was. Someone called it in and said it was a vehicle fire. We all ran around and jumped in cars and grabbed fire extinguishers and immediately went to the vehicle. It was engulfed in flames. There was nothing. They were trapped. Employees, friends of the shop. We tried. We tried. We went through fire extinguishers.”
The vehicle was allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed when it collided…both a tree and light post were down at the scene. “We just know that the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed,” Sgt. Brian Allen of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station said. “Between the skid marks and the damage to the vehicle, it appears as though the vehicle was traveling at a very significant rate of speed.”
According to TMZ this was one of the last images of Paul, about 30 minutes before before his death. Walker and Rodas’ autopsies will be delayed due to the condition of the bodies, which are unidentifiable because of the severe burns.
It’s a just so sad…he was so full of life!
