Janay Rice is finally breaking her silence about the night her then boyfriend football player, Ray Rice struck her in a NJ hotel elevator and knocked her unconscious! Janay tells Matt Lauer for the Today Show interview that she did see the first tape the surfaced a few days after the incident, but has not seen the second video, “I refuse. I refuse. I’m not going to let the public bring me back there.”

Janay goes on to say that Ray had never hit her previous to the incident or after. She goes on to say that the Rice’s football team the Baltimore Ravens thought it would be a good idea for Janay to apologize in a press conference for their negative actions in Atlantic City hotel back on Valentine’s Day 2014. “I wanted to help the way we looked in the media, help his image, help—obviously—his career, so they told us earlier that week we would do the press conference and I was fine with it,” she said.

“And that was frustrating for me, because obviously people took it as, you know, I’m taking light off of what Ray did. In no way. I was basically, not doing what I was told, but at the same time I didn’t think it was completely wrong for me to apologize, because at the end of the day I got arrested, too, so I did something wrong, too. Not taking any light off of what Ray did because I agree with everybody else. He was wrong.” Ray did not apologize during that conference, but Janay says he has apologized to her in private many times.

Ray was then indefinitely suspended by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell after TMZ posted the second video which showed the harsher, more graphic and violent attack on Janay. The suspension was overturned last week.

They may have both been drinking and maybe were out of control, and Janay doesn’t want to be seen as a victim since she also put her hands on Ray, but the way he hit her was just atrocious and knocked her unconscious.
