Aaliyah’s family is not too happy with the new biopic based on the life of the late R&B singer. According to TMZ, the Haughton family plans to stop production on the Lifetime which was set to begin this summer. This week Lifetime announced Disney star Zendaya would play the singer, who tragically died in a plane crash in 2001.Aaliyah’s uncle and former manager, Barry Hankerson says the family is upset they were not contacted first about the film and plan to black any use of Aaliyah’s music.
The family has hired a lawyer and will begin the process to block the film. The family is not opposed to a biopic but think she deserves a bigger, theatrical film versus a TV movie.
