Alanis Morissette and her husband, Mario “Souleye” Treadway and in the middle of a lawsuit with their former nanny, Bianca Cambeiro who claims the couple did not pay her overtime and would not allow her breaks or rest during her 12-hour shifts taking care of the baby, Ever, three of four days a week!
Cambeiro claims she started working for the couple in August 2011 and was paid $25/hour and when she asked Morrissette’s accountant in January 2012 about overtime she was told, “We don’t do that.” She was also prohibited from leaving the bedroom of the baby when he was sleeping unless one of the parents was there or another nanny relieved her.
The former nanny wants no less than $100,000 for emotional distress, attorney fees and lost wages. She adds she was legally entitled to a minimum of two 30-minute meal breaks each shift as she worked more than 10 hours per day.
She should have inquired about overtime before taking the job.
