Chris Brown has been taken into federal custody by U.S. Marshals for pre-trial hearings in his Washington D.C. misdemeanor assault case. Brown has been in jail since he was kicked out of a Malibu rehab last month and was sent directly to jail on March 14 for violating probation in the Rihanna assault case . Brown and his bodyguard are accused of punching a a 20-year-old Beltsville, Md., man back in October. The man tried to get a photo with the pop star but instead claims Brown hurled a racial slur at him, “I’m not down with that gay [expletive]” and later added, “I feel like boxing.”
Brown’s attorney Mark Geragos tried to block Brown’s transfer to the U.S. Marshals, as it would hurt his ability to confer with his client before the trial according to the LA Times. Geragos proposed two options, block the federal order or permit Geragos to escort Brown to the trial next month. The judge denied the request.
