American Idol is still hashing out its new judge situation after losing producer, Dr. Luke as their third judge. Dr. Luke could not take on the judging gig over a professional conflict according to THR. Here is the deal Dr. Luke has a contract with Sony Music, but its competitor Universal Music Group hold all rights to American Idol recordings, thus causing a conflict. Dr. Luke would have been molding contestants for success on another label. But a source adds the show would be too much of a commitment. “Luke wants to build an entertainment company … after a lot of conversations, both Luke and Sony Music CEO Doug Morris came to the mutual agreement that taking Dr. Luke out of the Idol running ‘was the best thing for all parties.'”
