A spoon full of sugar—may be outdated and too sweet, but not a Mary Poppins remake. Emily Blunt and Hamilton star Lin-Manuel Miranda are set to star in Mary Poppins Returns. Director Rob Marshall plans to bring back out childhood nostalgia. “The iconic original film means so much to me personally. I look forward to creating an original movie musical that can bring Mary Poppins, and her message that childlike wonder can be found in even the most challenging of times, to a whole new generation.”
The story will follow a now grown Jane and Michael Banks (and his three children) in Depression-era London after a loss brings Mary Poppins (Blunt) back into their lives and she gets a little help from Jack (Miranda) a street lamplighter.
