Comedian Greg Giraldo passed away yesterday wednesday at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, N.J. Giraldo was 44 years old. He suffered a overdose from prescription pills while partying over the weekend!

Giraldo’s family decided to take him off life support when the doctor’s could not resuscitate him.

Greg Giraldo had been in a coma for five days when his family ultimately made the decision to end the comedian’s life … TMZ has learned.

Sources close to the situation tell us Greg had remained in a coma since he overdosed last weekend in New Jersey.

We’re told doctors weren’t able to resuscitate him, and Greg’s family decided to take him off life support yesterday.

Greg’s Memorial will be held at a comedy club, which is fitting….

Comedian Greg Giraldo’s death, reportedly due to an accidental prescription-drug overdose, has struck a chord throughout Hollywood. But friends and family will be able to pay tribute to the late stand-up Friday night, as the time scheduled for his performance at New York’s Governor’s Comedy Club will serve as his memorial.

TMZ reports that the manager of the Levittown, New York, club plans to pay homage to the beloved comedian.

“We just want to commemorate his life,” the manager told the website.

Friday’s public ceremony is scheduled for 10:30 p.m., the exact time the comedian was supposed to hit the venue’s stage.

In homage to the performer, the club will play his DVDs on its television screens. While there won’t be an admission fee, donations for Giraldo’s family will be accepted.
