Did you watch American Idol last night because it was quite a show and I’m not talking about the performances. Contestant Quentin Alexander has just finished performing Lenny Kravitz’s “Are You Gonna Go My Way” when Ryan Seascrest asked him if something was wrong after he was critiqued on his performance…Quentin went on to say that American Idol was ‘wack’ after his best friend Joey landed in the bottom two (and went home, but no one is going to remember that after all this drama). “This sucks. We’ve got two of the best vocalists, my best friend, sitting over there, this whole thing is wack, but I’m going to shut up right now.”

Well that did not sit well with judge Harry Connick Jr. “I don’t understand that at all, I don’t get that. Are we on commercial?” he asked. “No we’re live,”  Seacrest added. “Good. Quentin, if it’s that wack, then you can always go home, because Idol is paying a lot of money to give you this experience and for you to say that to this hand that is feeding you right now, I think is highly disrespectful.” Harry said to Quentin after left the stage. Quentin returned to confront Harry right in front of the judges table and explain what he meant.

“When I was saying this is wack, I wasn’t saying this (gesture to the set) is wack. That is wack (pointing to his friends in the bottom two),” he said. “What’s wack? It’s a competition,” Connick, Jr. replied. Quentin continued,”For my personal feelings, it sucks to see two people who I’ve grown to love go home. That’s what I mean is wack. I’m not disrespecting this competition.”

“That wasn’t clear,” Harry said with Quentin retorting, “I’m glad I got to clarify it for you.” It was brutal. It was one of the most tension filled nights ever on American Idol (and it made for good TV).
