It’s not a good week for U.S. Women’s Soccer player Hope Solo! First her husband was arrested for a DUI and now she has been suspended from the team. According to TMZ, Solo was belligerent at the time of her husband Jerramy Stevens’ arrest on Monday telling officers, “Don’t you know who we are?” Stevens was initially pulled over for failing to put on his headlights, but was later arrested for a DUI.

Solo also got herself arrested for “acting belligerent” in the car. Solo has been suspended from the U.S. women’s national team for 30 days, U.S. Soccer announced Wednesday. Coach Jill Ellis said in a statement.on U.S. Soccer and her teammates,”During our current National Team camp, Hope made a poor decision that has resulted in a negative impact on U.S. Soccer and her teammates. We feel at this time it is best for her to step away from the team.” Stevens was allegedly driving the U.S. Soccer team’s van and the soccer officials were upset that Hope let Stevens drive the team van and didn’t tell them directly about the incident.

Solo released her own statement on Twitter, “I accept and respect the Federation’s decision. I apologize for disappointing my teammates, coaches and the Federation who have always supported me. I think it’s best for me to take a break, decompress from the stress of the last several months, and come back mentally and physically ready to positively contribute to the team.” She can try to get re-instated with the team after thirty days, but she will miss a few matches.
