Prep is key in life—but it’s especially important when you are an actress and your face is your money maker. Enter skincare! Stars like Alicia Vikander, Saoirse Ronan and Suki Waterhouse get a little extra skin help  courtesy of ELEMIS. Celebrity Makeup Artist and ELEMIS Expert Kelly Cornwell shares her top skincare secrets to achieve a radiant, camera ready look

#1 – Good Skin is Key
Good skin is essential to any makeup look, and it’s always worth spending a little extra time perfecting your skin before makeup application.

Insider tip:
If you do have dry patches, make sure to exfoliate beforehand to prevent your base from clinging to these areas (try Papaya Enzyme Peel). Follow with moisturizer, Pro-Collagen Marine Cream is a favorite amongst my celebrity clientele. It sits really well under makeup and creates a dewiness.

#2 – Gel Masks
I never apply makeup on a client without first using the Pro-Collagen Hydra-Gel Eye Masks. They are so lightweight and ideal for my kit, and because of their cooling and de-puffing properties they are perfect for early morning shoots too.

Insider tip: Breakout stars including The Danish Girl’s Alicia Vikander and Brooklyn’s Saoirse Ronan can’t get enough of the Pro-Collagen Hydra-Gel Eye Masks!

#3 – Get the Glow
Prepping skin for the red carpet is all about adding moisture and illuminating. I start with Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm (a favorite of Suki Waterhouse) to remove all traces of makeup and impurities. I then finish with an illuminating primer like Pro-Radiance Illuminating Flash Balm which is light reflective without being sparkly.

Insider tip: The BIOTEC Radiance Renew facial at The House of ELEMIS is a must for dull complexions and to help restore moisture and vitality to the skin.

#4 – Don’t forget your neck
It is important not to neglect this area especially if you are wearing something low-cut. Apply product with upward strokes, going against gravity to lift the area. Products with a lighter texture are great to use on the neck like the Pro-Collagen Neck & Décolleté Balm, which firms, soothes and hydrates.

Insider tip: Take the product up to the chin and along the jawline using palm of the hand or back of the hands to prevent dragging this delicate area.
