Kelly Ripa did not show up to wrok today on Live! with Kelly and Michael after she was blindsided by Michael Strahan’s departure announcement. Kelly even missed Michael’s live departure announcement on the show this morning, instead he was joined by guest co-anchor, Ana Gasteyer.
According to TMZ, Kelly and Executive Producer Michael Gelman were “stunned and upset” went the press release was sent out that Strahan would be leaving the show about half an hour after they finished Tuesday’s episode of Live! Kelly reportedly felt disrespected and humiliated when she was not warned of the announcement beforehand—so she skipped Wednesday’s episode.
Michael on the other hand joked about his departure this morning, “I’ve been in the news lately. It’s the same channel, so I’m not going anywhere. I was reading some stuff and it sounded like I died!” He then went on the thank the fans for support!
