This morning the Good Morning America staff got a huge scare when a knife-wielding homeless man making making threats that he wanted to ‘kill Michael Strahan’ at the NYC studio this morning. According to the New York Post, Andre Johnson, 25 pulled out a knife and began making threatening statements about Michael Strahan during an argument with security at the ABC’s studios in Times Square on Tuesday morning. Johnson was later arrested. Strahan was never in any danger and learned of the incident later in the day.
An ABC News spokesperson said, “It was a scary situation but thanks to the fast actions of NYPD the situation was quickly under control” and was “heroically tackled” by an officer. Johnson was charged with attempted assault as a felony, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon.
