Mariah Carey is no wallflower, but rumor has it that she no longer wants to feud with Nicki Minaj on American Idol. A source tells FOX411’s Pop Tarts column that Mariah is over the threats and nastiness from Nicki and even threatened not to come to the show this week even though they are down to the top three. “Mariah doesn’t want to come back, Nicky is really disrespecting her and she’s tired of trying to bit her tongue all the time. One night Nicky tried to be kind of nice, but Mariah didn’t bite, so I guess she figured screw that.” Then Nicki took to Twitter to slam Mariah. MC might not return next season even if Nicki does not return.“She’s done with it all. She doesn’t need the platform, and all the drama isn’t healthy for her,” added the source. “She’s also under fire with the producers for not being critical enough of the contestants.”Sources add that the feud is not a marketing move, despite some reports the fight was a publicity stunt. But Mariah’s hubby, Nick Cannon commented on the feud, “She didn’t sign up for that. She was like ‘I don’t need this. I’m doing this for the brand of American Idol,’ which she has been a fan of.‘This is going to turn into one of those reality shows.’ She’s like, ‘I didn’t sign up to be on Love & Hip Hop.’ But it feels like even the producers and everybody else want to play into the sound bites,” lamented the star. So will Mariah sign on for another season, “I think if they get it stable, she might re-look at it, but she doesn’t want to be a part of anything that’s unstable.”
