Minnesota Vikings running back, Adrian Peterson’s two-year-old is in critical condition after man caring for the child has been arrested. The man, Joseph Patterson was allegedly dating the mother of the child. Peterson addressed reporters on Friday.”I should start off by saying I really appreciate all the support that I’ve been receiving from fans, the Vikings organization. This is a private matter and I would ask you all to please just respect my privacy and not ask at all about the situation at hand. Thanks.”

Peterson’s father, Nelson Peterson explained that the child does belong to his son, Adrian after conflicting reports went around about the identity of the boy. “All I can say is, we are asking for prayers and for respect for our family as we deal with this tragic situation.”

Joseph Patterson is being held on two felony counts of aggravated battery of an infant and aggravated assault domestic.  The child was found unresponsive by police and emergency workers at the Sioux Falls home and rushed to the hospital.

Peterson told reporters, “I will be playing Sunday, without a doubt.”
