Tina Fey will be taking her new sitcom to Netflix. The new comedy from Fey and Robert Carlock, “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” will go from its NBC origins to the streaming service as part of a two-season order set to premiere in all Netflix territories next March according to Variety. “Kimmy” stars the adorable Office star Ellie Kemper, a woman looking to start her life over in NYC after escaping the doomsday cult she’s been in for the past 15 years. The sitcom was supposed to be an NBC midseason replacement, but found a home on Netflix instead.
Cindy Holland, VP of original content at Netflix, welocmed the new show with open arms, “The very construct of — its offbeat premise, hilarious and rich characters and serialized storytelling — make it a perfect Netflix comedy series.”
