Tracy Morgan finally settled with Wal-mart almost a year after the fatal accident in June 2014 that claimed the life of comedian, James McNair and left Morgan critically injured on the New Jersey Turnpike. The driver for a Wal-Mart truck crashed into the back of the vehilce Tracy was riding in following a performance.

Morgan’s lawyer Benedict Morelli told the Today Show, “The process is never easy. He has a new lease on life. There was money involved because that’s the only thing that we can use to compensate people who are very injured, and you know that Tracy was close to death.”

Morgan added in a statement, “Walmart did right by me and my family and for my associates and their families. I am grateful that the case was resolved amicably.”

Tracy will also sit with NBC’s Matt Lauer for his first sit down interview since the accident, which will air on June 1st on NBC.
