Tyra Banks surprised many when she said she was coming back to the America’s Next Top Model after ending the series and then enlisting singer Rita Ora as her replacement in the reboot this year. “Fans drew me back, blowing up my social media… They were very adamant and very emotional,” Tyra told ET. And Tyra has her plate full with motherhood, her beauty line and hosting America’s Got Talent, but she’s made room for her return to Top Model.
Rita’s gone and so are the age limits for the show (well you have to be at least 18). “I say screw the number. Throw away age. It’s not how old you are, it’s how old you look. So if you are 42 and you look 27, honey, you should model for 27-year-old things. Then once you do look 42 there’s a hell of a lot of 42-year-old women that want to look at somebody that looks like them. I feel like it should be a career that can go forever. And presently, it’s not.”
Should Tyra have come back to the show? Maybe, but Rita was the only show castoff since model Ashley Graham, PAPER magazine’s Drew Elliott, and stylist Law Roach are all set to return! Kind of a bummer for Rita!
