Whitney Houston’s hair stylist/confidant, Tiffany Dixon sat down with ET and talked about the final day she was supposed to work with Whitney on February 11 at the Beverly Hilton. Dixon arrived at the hotel for her 3:30 call time to do Whitney’s hair and when she got to the floor she heard screaming and crying and knew something was wrong. Dixon then called the police and then ran into Bobbi Kristina, who did not know what was happening and she asked Dixon to pray with her.
“I showed up for my call time,” Dixon begins, fighting tears as she recalls that fateful Saturday in February. “The call time was 3:30 and I got there I got on the floor and I heard someone crying for screaming from the direction I was going in… Once I got there I just kind of knew that we needed help. That she needed help.”
In the moments that followed, Dixon tells ET’s Chris Jacobs that she herself had taken on the responsibility of notifying the police and that’s when she ran into Houston’s daughter, Bobbi Kristina who had yet to learn of her mother’s condition.“At the time [Bobbi Kristina] didn’t know what was happening and I didn’t know what was happening either but I knew that something wasn’t right,” recalls Dixon. “She wanted to pray with me and she hugged me and she didn’t know what was going on. At that moment I didn’t know what to do…It was just a moment that is going to take me quite some time to get over.”
While it’s been months since she’s seen Houston’s 19-year-old daughter, Dixon dutifully gives the teen words of “encouragement…power and prayer,” adding, “her mother would ask [me to].”
Whitney Houston died on February 11 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. She was 48 years old. The pop star’s final autopsy results indicate Houston died of drowning, and effects of atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use.
