Caleb Johnson may be basking in the glow of his American Idol win, but the 23-year-old made good on his promise to take runner up Jena Irene Asciutto to her high school prom. Irene told WWJ CBS radio in Detroit, “He’s an awesome guy. We’ve been best friends for a couple months now. To bring him to meet all my friends is pretty cool.” Caleb and Jena became close during their time on Fox singing competition show but the prom date idea actually started off as a joke. “It was a joke at first. My mom was joking about it and I was like ‘Huh, that could be fun.’ And then we ended up being the last two so I’m like, ‘Do you want to just go to prom together,’ and he’s like ‘Alright, lets do it,’ and it happened.”
How freakin’ sweet! You can watch Caleb and the rest of the top 10 when they hit their tour this summer, beginning at the end of July.
