If you thought you would be heading to the movies to see the first of the Avatar sequels within the next year –well sorry to disappoint but the movies have been delayed. The highly anticipated sequels for Avatar have been delayed until late 2017, according to director James Cameron.
“We were probably a bit ambitious with [the film],” Cameron said, “It took me six months to write the first and we’re writing three altogether. There’s a layer of complexity in getting the story to work as a saga across three films that you don’t get when you’re making a stand-alone film.”
Cameron discussed teh movies while in New Zealnad promoting the local film industry, “We’re writing three simultaneously. And we’ve done that so that everything tracks throughout the three films. We’re not just going to do one and then make up another one and another one after that,” he said. “And parallel with that, we’re doing all the design. So we’ve designed all the creatures and the environments.”
I’m sure Zoe Saldana is welcoming the delay since she just gave birth to her twins late last year.
