Who else would nab the honor of Barbara Walters’ 2014’s Most Fascinating Person of the Year, but Amal Alamuddin, who did the unthinkable when she  snatched up the ultimate bachelor —who vowed to never get married again — George Clooney. Amal become an overnight sensation when she began dating George and went on to marry him in a lavish Italian wedding in September.

Barbara was not able to land a sit down with Amal, but says she’s the most fascinating person of 2014 after marrying Clooney.  “How do I introduce her? I guess the question is, ‘What does it take to fascinate one of the most fascinating men in the world?’ She is known primarily through her spouse, and while we know little about her, we know a great deal about him. And he has fascinated many women—especially me.”

When George said he was marrying up he wasn’t kidding, Amal is an international human rights lawyer who is a notable person in her own profession.

Also on the ‘Fascinating’ list were Taylor Swift, Michael Strahan, David Koch, Oprah Winfrey, Elon Musk, George R.R. Martin, Chelsea Handler, Neil Patrick Harris and Scarlett Johansson.
