2017 MTV Video Music Awards - Arrivals

So, the VMAs are over and Katy Perry’ hosting duties did not go over too well with people. The jokes fell a little flat, just ask Ellen who looked like she was think WTF every time Katy attempted some of her jokes or rather the jokes written for her.

But all that lumps and bumps aside, the 2017 VMAs had a few pretty inspirational themes during the show.

  • Pink said be yourself!! After performing a medley of hits and accepting the  Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award Pink revealed a sweet story about her Willow, who recently told her she wasn’t pretty. All our hearts collectively broke, but Pink turned it all around!

  • Paris Jackson’s time on stage was short, but powerful—she basically gave the middle finger to that white supremacist movement! “You know, if we were all to put our voices together, do you know the difference we could make? If we were to stand up all united as one, our impact it would be ‘yuge.’ It would be ‘yuge.’ Believe me, ‘yuge.’ And that’s not fake news. So, let’s leave here tonight remembering that we must show these Nazi, white supremacist jerks in Charlottesville and all over the country … We have zero tolerance for their violence, their hatred and their discrimination. We must resist.”
  • Logic’s mental health song! The rapper enlisted Alessia Cara and Khalid
for the track, “1-800-273-8255,” which is the phone number for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. The song had a strong message—“I’ve been on the low / I been taking my time / I feel like I’m out of my mind / It feel like my life ain’t mine / Who can relate.”
