Celebrity chef Nigella Lawson’s husband, Charles Saatchi claims he did not injure his wife after photos surface of him allegedly choking her at a restaurant surface. In the photos (here) show Nigella and Charles in an argument and he is seen with his hand wrapped around her throat. But he know says it was a playful fight! He tells the Evening Standard, “About a week ago, we were sitting outside a restaurant having an intense debate about the children, and I held Nigella’s neck repeatedly while attempting to emphasise my point.There was no grip, it was a playful tiff. The pictures are horrific but give a far more drastic and violent impression of what took place. Nigella’s tears were because we both hate arguing, not because she had been hurt. We had made up by the time we were home. The paparazzi were congregated outside our house after the story broke yesterday morning, so I told Nigella to take the kids off till the dust settled.”
A nearby witness said, “It was utterly shocking to watch. I have no doubt she was scared. It was horrific, really. She was very tearful and was constantly dabbing her eyes. Nigella was very, very upset. She had a real look of fear on her face. And yet she kissed him. She appeared to be a woman who loves him but was clearly unable to stop him being abusive, frightening and disrespectful to her.”
The police still plan to question the couple.
