Chelsea Handler is moving on up—to getting another show on E!. Love her and her salty humor! The new show called, After Lately will show what happens behind the scenes for Chelsea’s show Chelsea Lately. The show will include most of the comedians she brings on daily…sounds fun I would watch!
According to Variety,
Handler, the network’s popular latenight talkshow host, will star in “After Lately,” a half-hour comedy that will examine the backstage goings-on at her E! latenighter “Chelsea Lately” in a vein similar to HBO’s “The Larry Sanders Show.” The plan is for the thesps to work more from story outlines than fully developed scripts — a technique used on HBO laffer “Curb Your Enthusiasm.”
Eight episodes have been ordered, but no premiere date has yet been set. Production is scheduled to begin in a few weeks.
“The show is a behind-the-scenes look at what happens at our office when the cameras are off. … A perfect platform for people who have no business being on camera,” Handler told Daily Variety.
“After Lately” will be produced by Handler’s Borderline Amazing Prods., the production shingle she created earlier this year when she extended her contract with E! through 2012.
Besides Handler, others set to appear include Guy Branum, Sarah Colonna, Heather McDonald, Chris Franjola and Brad Wollack, who created the show with exec producers Tom Brunelle and Handler. Wollack will also co-exec produce.
