It’s the end of the road for X Factor diva Stacy Francis.
The 43-year-old single mom was eliminated from the FOX series Thursday, after a lackluster performance of “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now,” but it wasn’t her exit that was the show’s most shocking moment.
Voted into the bottom two along with Francis, 15-year-old Brooklyn rapper Brian “Astro” Bradley lost his cool when asked to sing for his life to stay in the competition. “I really don’t wanna perform. I feel like it’s unnecessary,” Astro told host Steve Jones before deferring to his mentor, L.A. Reid, who encouraged him to sing.
After his performance, the teen clashed with Simon Cowell, who called him out on his “disrespect.” “I don’t like your attitude right now. Look at me, and think about your mom watching the show,” Cowell told him. “Because you are showing disrespect to your mom. You are showing disrespect to the audience at home, and I don’t like people with this attitude.”
Retorted the rapper, who started to cry after he was met with boos from the audience: “No disrespect to you or this show, but I just feel like if you’re going to put me in the bottom two, I don’t want to perform for people who don’t want me here, you know what I’m saying? That’s it.”
Despite Cowell’s misgivings about Astro, the judge cast the deciding vote to send Francis home based on the fact that Astro would have a better chance at winning the competition. Speaking to Us Weekly backstage Thursday, Francis said she firmly believed her elimination was premeditated.
“Simon did say that he’d miss me and that he was really sorry. I feel like my demise was set up [Wednesday] night when he called me a cabaret singer. My feelings were very hurt,” the singer told Us. “Simon likes a little rebellion and he might respect Astro a little bit for just being a little bit rebellious. He likes a bad boy.”
Seasoned performer Francis says she was “confused” by the teen rapper’s behavior.
“Astro’s 14 and you can call him a teenager and give him an excuse, but bad behavior is bad behavior. He was ungracious in that moment, and in the real scheme of things, no matter what you have to be grateful,” she told Us. “I’m very very honored and I’m grateful for coming this far. I wanted to go all the way and I didn’t, so it’s time for me to reevaluate my life and see what happens from here. I think it’ll be okay.”
