Kanye West and videographer, Daniel Ramos have settled their lawsuit after Ramos dropped the suit. The paparazzo filed the lawsuit (for assault, battery, negligence and interference with civil rights) last year after West’s scuffle with Ramos at the Los Angeles International Airport in July 2013. It’s unclear if monetary compensation was exchanged.
At the time of the incident Kanye claimed self-defense. He was charged with misdemeanor battery and pleaded no contest (but maintained his innocence) and he was ordered to two years of probation, 250 hours of community service and anger management therapy according to ABC.
Ramos’s attorney, Gloria Allred released a statement, “We filed a dismissal because the case was settled to the satisfaction of the parties. We cannot discuss the details of the settlement, except to say that one important aspect of it was an apology by Kanye West to our client, Daniel Ramos. After the apology, a picture was taken of Mr. West shaking Mr. Ramos’ hand.” Photo here!
“We are very proud of our client Danny Ramos and his courage in bringing and pursuing this case which was so important to him and many other celebrity photographers,” Allred added. “We believe that this case sent an important message. Celebrities are not above the law, and they have no right to physically attack someone simply because they were asked a question.”
Sweet moment with Kanye and his mom, Donda.
