Lady Gaga’s album, ARTPOP came in at #1 in a few countries including the US, but she fell a little short of her previous opening numbers. Gaga is not too happy with the hate being thrown towards her and she even names Billboard as one of the haters. Gaga wrote on Twitter,”I put so much love into my music, into my shows, I make it all for you. I’ll never understand the overflow of hate sent my way. Or maybe thats what entertainment is now. It’s more fun to point & laugh than appreciate the artist. I’ll keep rehearsing my steps #showbiz. @billboard you’re included actually. In todays industry, u should be supportive of music period. Why target a passionate + dedicated artist?”
Billboard pointed out that Gaga did not do as well as her pop counterparts, Katy Perry’s “PRISM” sold 286,000 copies and Miley Cyrus’ “Bangerz” sold270,000 sold….Gaga sold h 258,000 copies. The article also added that Born This Way sold 1.1 million copies, with the help of a 99-cent sale deal by Amazon MP3 in 2011.
I think Gaga wants you to talk about the music and not the numbers but that what people look at and that’s especially what Billboard looks at. Check out Gaga’s nude video, ARTPOP Film. “This album is a celebration, my pain exploding in electronic music. It’s heavy but after I listen to it, I feel happy again. I feel lighter.”
