First Amanda Bynes and now Olympian Michael Phelps. Phelps was arrested last night for a DUI in Maryland. The Maryland Transportation Authority confirmed to E! News that the decorated Olympic gold medalist was arrested on early September 30th after police spotted him speeding in his 2014 Range Rover. After being pulled over police found Phelps to be under the influence after failing several sobriety tests. Phelps was arrested for driving under the influence, excessive speed and crossing double lane lines.
Phelps was doing 84 mph in a 45 mph zone. This is Phelps second DUI, he was arrested and booked on a DUI when he was just 19.
Phelps released a statement on Twitter, “Earlier this morning, I was arrested and charged with DUI, excessive speeding and crossing double lane lines. I understand the severity of my actions and take full responsibility. I know these words may not mean much right now but I am deeply sorry to everyone I have let down.”
