Oopsy, O Magazine found themselves in the middle of controversy after a clothing advice column was accused of body shaming. And it all has to do with the cute crop top. Someone wrote into the mag and asked, “Can I pull off a crop top?” The Mag answered, “If (and only if!) you have a flat stomach, feel free to try one.” Ouch!

Well Twitter, Instagram, and all other forms of social media revolted accusing the mag of body shaming! Women of all shapes and sizes took their crops tops to the internet in protest! Fashion blogger Tamar Anitai of Fashion Binge told TODAY.com that she found the crop top comment as she flipped through her O Magazine and felt the need to shared her outrage. “Women’s bodies are commoditized and scrutinized from the minute we wake up, before we get out of bed in the morning. It’s endless and exhausting. It’s so hard to get out of the narrow mind set of ‘normal’ bodies and sizes, and the mental and physical damage that can do to young women can last a lifetime.”

O Mag released a statement, “We support, encourage and empower all women to look great, feel confident and live their best lives – in this case, we could have expressed it better. We appreciate the feedback and will be more mindful going forward.”

Everyone is entitled to wear what they want. It’s whatever makes you feel comfy and beautiful.
