Paula Patton’s abuse claims just got more serious. The actress has accused her ex-husband, Robin Thicke of abusing her, infidelity and addiction. In a new court document obtained by People, Patton now claims that Thicke was abusive during there marriage and now wants a restraining order from the pop singer— he would have to stay least 100 yards away from her, their 6-year-old son Julian and her mother, Joyce Patton. She says “Robin had a temper and could be volatile at times.”
Paula details one incident when she saw Robin act inappropriate with a masseuse and he became upset when she interrupted the massage session and he broke down a door. She then adds, “Robin became physically violent with me. He pushed me down and kicked me.” After the incident they did attend counseling and says “Robin again admitted to me that he had a drug and alcohol problem and that it was affecting his behavior.
Then there was the infidelity. Paula says Robin confessed to cheating while he was on tour and she found him in bed with two women soon after the MTV VMAs in 2013. “I wanted to leave Robin but at the same time, I was incredibly fearful of angering him, and I did not want our son to grow up in a broken home. I was afraid of Robin’s volatility, his retribution. He would often threaten that he would leave both of us penniless given IRS tax liens incurred by him during the course of the marriage.”
The couple were able to co-parent their son until recently when she became concerned for her sons safety and believed Robin was back to drinking and drugs.
Thicke’s lawyer, Pierce di Donato responded to the allegations in a statement to People, “Paula never reported any domestic violence until she was in a position of contempt by violating the custody orders. DCFS asked both Paula and Robin to drug test. Robin agreed and submitted to his test, but Paula refused to test. Infidelity has nothing to do with custody. She is attempting to throw anything at him to hurt him, but Robin’s focus is their son.”
Robin currently has supervised visitation with Julian until 7 p.m. at a neutral location, but Paula was granted a restraining order against him.
