Phillip Phillips finally had the kidney surgery he desperately needed during his time on American Idol. Phillips underwent a 6 and a half hour long surgery in L.A. yesterday according to TMZ. The stones were too large to pass naturally, but, “Surgery went well,” his rep tells PEOPLE. “He’s resting.”
Phillips had 8 surgeries during his time on Idol, often performing in pain. He should be well enough to go on tour with his fellow Idols beginning in July.
