Saturday Night Live had added Sasheer Zamata to their roster after being criticized for their lack of diversity. Zamata will join the cast later this month on during the January 18th show. SNL has not had a black female cast member since biracial Maya Rudolph departed the show six years ago. Zamata is a University of Virginia graduate and worked for the Upright Citizens Brigade comedy group in New York City. The diversity topic came up when cast member Jay Pharoah pointed out their lack of black women on the show even coming up with a few casting possibilities, but Kenan Thompson said the ladies who did audition were not ready for the show. Well now there is a new black female cast member… can’t wait to check her out.
