Taylor Swift went to bat this weekend for all artists, producers and writer who were not going to get paid royalties during the free 3-month subscription trial that Apple Music plans to give customers and SHE WON! Apple Music has agreed to pay artists their due during the free trial period! It pays to be the most popular artist right now!
Apple’s senior vice president of internet services and software Eddy Cue took to Twitter to tell Taylor he heard her and the policy would change! “Apple will always make sure that artist are paid #iTunes #AppleMusic. #AppleMusic will pay artist for streaming, even during customer’s free trial period. We hear you @taylorswift13 and indie artists. Love, Apple.”
Cue spoke with Billboard and explained his change of heart. “When I woke up this morning and saw what Taylor had written, it really solidified that we needed a change. And so that’s why we decide we will now pay artists during the trial period.”
Taylor of course was happy with the outcome. “I am elated and relieved. Thank you for your words of support today. They listened to us.” GO TAYLOR!
