OMG, how can this be…Whitney Houston is dead at just 48 years old! Whitney was spotted out earlier this week…how can this be?
Whitney Houston, known as much for her golden voice as the troubles that plagued her personal life, has died. She was 48.
Her publicist, Kristen Foster, confirmed Houston’s passing Saturday just hours before the singer was expected to perform at Clive Davis’s annual pre-Grammy party at the Beverly Hilton.
“I can confirm that Whitney Houston was pronounced dead at 3:55 p.m. at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. We received a call at 3:43 p.m. from hotel security and Beverly Hills Fire and police responded minutes later,” Beverly Hills Police Lieutenant Mark Rosen tells PEOPLE. “It’s unclear who notified hotel staff because she has quite an entourage here at the hotel. We attempted to resuscitate her, to no avail.”
As to whether there was any evidence of drugs or foul play, Rosen responded: “We don’t know yet, her death is under investigation.”
Earlier this week, the six-time Grammy winner was spotted having a night out on the town in L.A. at “Kelly Price & Friends Unplugged: For The Love Of R&B Grammy Party” at Tru Hollywood.
After a more than 15-year hiatus from the big screen, Houston recently filmed Sparkle, due to arrive in theaters Aug. 10, with Jordin Sparks.
Houston has a tumultuous marriage to singer Bobby Brown, with whom she has a daughter, Bobbi Kristina, 19. The couple divorced in 2007.
Houston’s debut album, Whitney Houston, was released in 1985 and sold millions of copies. Among the hits off the album were “Saving All My Love for You,” “How Will I Know,” ”You Give Good Love” and “The Greatest Love of All.”

I continue seeing and hearing the phrase, “We are going to feel the loss of Whitney Houstonâ€, Truly! Is it Whitney people will, no doubt feel the loss of or really is it all about the entertainment value and also the voyeuristic contentment she created? I would say the meat grinder, that is Hollywood in addition to superstardom leaves the newest load belonging to the scarcely familiar remnants of ‘some thing’ that unfortunately had been a human being, at least to someone. Speak honest truth, Whitney expired years ago and for that reason we now bid farewell to the shell of a person who many never ever actually were familiar with, someone that was in the past confident enough to make everyone reflect on life and even love for a moment yet somehow in conclusion got wrecked by the soul stealing love of devoted enthusiasts combined with life killing marketers and managers that removed and drew unceasingly until eventually hardly anything survived. So I am going to declare this, we will (really) miss the extremely incredible voice that belonged to Whitney Houston! I just really hope her family and authentic friends that truly were familiar with her can find solace knowing that the real Whitney’s pain and suffering are over.
I’m so sad. The lady was just one of my beloved vocalists.
