The medical director of Yorkville Endoscopy has been fired amid the circumstances surrounding Joan Rivers death. Dr. Lawrence Cohen allowed an unaffiliated doctor perform an examination on Rivers, despite the fact that that doctor was not authorized to practice at the clinic according to ABC. A spokesperson for Yorkville confirmed that Cohen “is not currently performing procedures at Yorkville Endoscopy; nor is he currently serving as medical director.” The clinic denied that a vocal cord biopsy  was performed but did not deny that there was an unplanned procedure done.

Lawrence has been on leave since August 28th. Rivers stopped breathing during the August 28th procedure to determine why her voice had gotten so raspy and later passed away on September 4th.
