Amy Schumer is no longer attached to Barbie, a live action film based around the dolls life due to scheduling conflicts. “Sadly, I’m no longer able to commit to Barbie due to scheduling conflicts,” Schumer said in a statement to Variety. “The film has so much promise, and Sony and Mattel have been great partners. I’m bummed, but look forward to seeing Barbie on the big screen.”
Schumer has signed on for another flick—She Came To Me directed by Rebecca Miller and co-starring Steve Carell and Nicole Kidman. Barbie was set to start production in June 2017, but her Snatched promotion tour and filming She Came To Me would interfere. Sony had to stick to their original schedule since they have a deal woth Mattel for merchandise and product. “We respect and support Amy’s decision,” a spokesperson for Sony said in a statement. “We look forward to bringing Barbie to the world and sharing updates on casting and filmmakers soon.”
