Adriana Lima received a lot of flack for pre-Victoria’s Secret Show diet and exercise regimen. But Adriana is not telling people, especially teens not to do this…
“Those teenagers out there, don’t go starving yourself or only drinking liquids. Don’t do that please,” she told ET Canada Thursday.
Lima’s plea comes after she was quoted Monday saying that in the run-up to the annual shows, she works out twice a day and drinks only protein shakes for nine days.
She indulges in “no solids” for those days, and then, for 12 hours before the show, “No liquids at all so you dry out, sometimes you can lose up to eight pounds just from that,” Lima, 30, told the U.K.’s Daily Telegraph.
But, she says now, her regimen is not as extreme as it seems. At the show on Wednesday, Lima – mom to 2-year-old Valentina with husband Marko Jaric – showed ET Canada her backstage snacks, which included coffee, water and a piece of cake.
“I have my Starbucks coffee right there … it was a misunderstanding,” she said of her comments to the Telegraph, which got a lot of attention this week.
However, after her initial comments made waves, she defended the extreme measures to E! – while emphasizing the diet is not something she does for long.
“I know it’s very intense but … I just have an athlete’s mind and I appreciate doing this thing,” she said. “It’s not that I do crazy diets throughout the year. I just do it for this particular thing. After this show, I become normal again.”
I don’t want to fault Adriana for her regimen because I have heard that body builders do something similar before competitions but its when this info gets into the wrong hands like younger people that worries some people. Adriana does not do this all year round!
