After all that public gushing over each other, Charlize Theron and Sean Penn are calling it quits. The duo quietly called off their engagement, after a year and a half of dating, according to Us Magazine. It was Charlize who allegedly initiated the split, following their trip to the Cannes Film Festival.
The couple were first spotted together in December 2013 and were engaged by 2014, although the duo have known each other for years! It was just this past March that Sean gushed over his relationship with Charlize telling Esquire UK, “You say I’ve been married twice before, but I’ve been married under circumstances where I was less informed than I am today.So I wouldn’t even consider it a third marriage, I’d consider it a first marriage on its own terms if I got married again. I mean, I like the tradition. A friend of mine wrote a line, ‘Without tradition, new things die.’ And I don’t want new things to die.” Charlize called him ‘the love of my life.’
And yes that was a dig at Madonna and Robin Wright!
