Miley Cyrus is tired of being put in a box, and although the pop star doesn’t like the label boy or girl, she’ll take ‘gender fluid’ for now! “I’m just equal. I’m just even. It has nothing to do with any parts of me or how I dress or how I look. It’s literally just how I feel,” she tells Time Magazine.
Miley went on to add, “People try to make everyone something. You can just be whatever you want to be,” she said while promoting her charity, Happy Hippie which is dedicated to helping homeless and LGBT youth.
She also says dating guys is different than dating girl as guys as males ten to have an “overly macho energy” she wasn’t too fond of. “That made me feel like I had to be a femme-bot, which I’m not. And then when I was with a girl, I felt like, ‘Oh s—, she’s going to need someone to protect her, so I’m going to need to have this macho energy.’ And that didn’t feel right either.”
Miley has also started the #InstaPride campaign for people who are tired of those perfect Instagram people with their signature ‘duck’ faces, with tons of followers. “That’s why we want to do it through Instagram—enough of these pictures. Let’s get some likes on some real pictures.”
I looked up gender fluid and here’s the definition I came up with…What’s gender fluid? Part boy, part girl, multigender or whatever you desire at the moment, but all human. Rising star on Orange is the New Black explains what gender fluid is to her. “For the most part, I definitely don’t identify as any gender,” she told Elle. “I’m not a guy; I don’t really feel like a woman, but obviously I was born one. So, I’m somewhere in the middle, which – in my perfect imagination – is like having the best of both sexes.”
