Demi Lovato: “My mentality was ‘Work hard, play hard” Prior To Rehab!

Demi Lovato candidly opened about her troubled past in a new interview with Nylon Magazine, saying her parents tried to control but but since she was paying the bills it was a struggle.”My parents tried to control me, but I’d be like, ‘Oh really, I’m grounded? Well, I pay the bills.’ They did the best they could. And I think that’s why a lot of young stars struggle when they’re making money or providing for their family.”

Demi added, “My mentality was ‘Work hard, play hard. It was hard to listen to the word ‘no.’ I wanted to make my own rules. I thought that if I was adult enough to get there, then I could party like an adult. And obviously, I couldn’t.” .

Side note…Demi’s fans are not happy with Joe Jonas’ Vulture interview in which he says he felt like he needed to take care of her, but she needed help and so they broke up. “I felt like I needed to take care of her, but at the same time I was living a lie, because I wasn’t happy but felt like I had to stay in it for her, because she needed help. I couldn’t express any of that, of course, because I had a brand to protect.”
