Ed Sheeran has infiltrated Taylor Swift’s squad. The British singer may be in a serious relationship now with girlfriend, Cherry, but he tells Rolling Stone that it was easy hooking up with ladies from Taylor Swift’s squad while on the Speak Now tour in 2011. “Taylor’s world is celebrity,” he explains. “I was this 22-year-old awkward British kid going on tour with the biggest artist in America, who has all these famous mates. It was very easy. I would often find myself in situations just kind of waking up and looking over and being like, ‘How the f**k did that happen?'” But Ed’s relationship with Taylor is still intact and only platonic. “I found that aspect quite lazy journalism. There wasn’t any truth to it whatsoever.”
Ed only sees Taylor a few times a year, but says they are very close. “We’ve gotten matching Scottish folds, made each other arts and crafts Christmas presents, vacationed with our families, and had each other’s backs,” says Swift. “He is the James Taylor to my Carole King and I can’t imagine a time when he wouldn’t be.” Ed wouldn’t mind heading on tour with his famous pal where they switch songs like Jay Z and Justin Timberlake. “She would be there if everything ended for me. Taylor is kind of an anomaly in that sense.”
