The Long Bob
Have you ever wondered what haircut would look great on you? Well, we have the answer, it’s the long bob aka ‘the lob’, not quite a short bob, but it’s definitely not a long hairstyle, it lives somewhere in the middle. Year after the year the lob has been the go-to haircut for everyone since it’s for all types of hair. Jen Atkin, hair stylist to the stars (Chrissy Teigen, The Kardashians, Jenna Dewan, Bella Hadid and creator of Ouai Hair Products) recommended to Elle Magazine that hair should be just above shoulder length. “I recommend to most clients that they get their hair cut just above the shoulder but it really depends on what you’re going for. A lot of women get hung up on long hair making their face look slimmer but a lot of the time that’s not the case. A lot of the time the hair is wearing them, rather than them wearing the hair!”
Lob Haircuts For All
While scrolling through Instagram or Pinterest for inspo we can’t help but be drawn in by all the beautiful lob cuts, from shorter lobs that just graze the shoulder to the more traditional lob which usually hits your collarbone. There are a few types of long bobs—-The Straight Blunt Lob, The Messy Lob, The Messy Lob With Bangs and The Layered Lob. The long bobs can be worn in any way to suit your face shape and can be a great transitional hairstyle. But it’s truly an all-season hairstyle. If you are looking to chop off your long hair or just want to freshen up your look, then check out the list we have compiled below to find your new hairstyle. So grab a few of these photos and head to your stylist ASAP just in time for that new Fall haircut or any season after that.
The Straight Blunt Lob
The straight blunt long bob has little to no layers. It is the classic and simple cut that has been seen on Tika Sumpter and Kim Kardashian, the cut is very straight and sharp around the perimeter of the style which gives it a timeless feel. This style works for everyone. Kim Kardashian loves to rock this cut when she switches things up from her long hair look.
The Messy or Textured Lob
Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez may have met as little girls on the set of Barney, but both ladies have an affinity for the long bob, usually with a cool messy texture. Probably with the help of a little texture spray and a curling iron. The cut usually has a few layers to give the cut movement.
The Messy Lob With Bangs
Kerry Washington’s short lob and bangs are essentially the messy lobs with a pop (or bang—-get it? Haha). Kerry was spotted with the messy lob before upgrading her look with a short set of bands. Alexa Chung is also a lover of the messy lob and bangs look.
The Layered Lob
Jenna Dewan is serious hair goals. She’s been long and short and manages to make every look cooler than the next. After chopping off her long hair a few years ago she has maintained shorter hairstyles like the layered lob, not quite messy and not quite blunt, she often opts for a soft bend. “I always try to keep it super simple and ready-to-go,” she explained a recent youtube video. “I don’t spend a lot of time on my hair, so I have to have a haircut and products that I can literally put in my hair, scrunch, and use and go.”
