Jennifer Hudson took the stand today for the first day in the murder trial of her family. Jennifer began the day will telling the court who she was, “My name is Jennifer Kate Hudson. I’m an actress and a singer.” Jennifer was the first witness to take the stand in the trial against her former brother-in-law, William Balfour, who is charged with killing her mother, brother and nephew. Jennifer began her statement with telling the jurors that she did not want her sister, Julia to marry Balfour. “None of us, myself, my mother, or my brother, we did not like how he treated her, and I didn’t like how he treated my nephew,” Jennifer said. Balfour was allegedly jealous that Julia was seeing another man, but has pleaded not guilty because there is no evidence connecting him to the crime
Jennifer learned of her mother and brother’s death when her sister called her (she was in Florida at the time),”My sister called my fiancé’s phone. I remember it like yesterday, obviously. And he couldn’t understand what she was saying because she was so hysterical, and I grabbed the phone from him, and that’s when she told me.”
