Are Leah Remini and Holly Robinson Peete so over The Talk…it looks like it! Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne and Julie Chen’s options have have all been picked up, but Leah and Holly have not, so for now it doesn’t look like they will be back for Season 2! Sad!
According to Deadline,
Coming off a strong July in which it drew its largest audience (2.21 million) and women 25-54 rating (1.0/6) since February, CBS’ daytime talk show The Talk is undergoing some changes. I hear that heading into Season 2, the show has picked up the options of co-host/creator Sara Gilbert and co-hosts Sharon Osbourne and Julie Chen, while the options of Leah Remini and Holly Robinson Peete have not been picked up. While the future of Remini and Robinson Peete is unclear, they are not expected to return when The Talk kicks off its second season Sept. 6. The show’s producing team, led by John Redmann, who has been with The Talk since the beginning, is currently mapping out the show’s creative direction for Season 2 before a decision is made about potentially bringing in new co-hosts. Osbourne had recently asked for some time off in the fall to be with her husband, so she will return to the show after that.
But there have been some other rumblings that people are annoyed with Julie ( her hubby is CBS President Les Moonves…so she has some pull) and others are annoyed by Leah and her mother? NY Post has the dish…ladies get catty!
Julie Chen’s “queen bee attitude†is forcing the ladies of CBS’s “The Talk†to flee the daytime gab-fest after just one season.
Sources say fed-up Leah Remini plans to quit on the heels of Sharon Osbourne’s bombshell that she’s taking a break. Co-host Holly Robinson Peete last week said she will not return for Season 2.
The last straw for Osbourne and Remini was Chen’s order, passed down from her master-of- the-universe husband, CBS President Les Moonves, following their South of France break, that the women were not allowed to discuss the Casey Anthony case without her because she’s the only host with journalistic credentials.
“[Julie] said, ‘My husband feels strongly that you should not be talking about news [without me], you are not news people,’ †our source told us. “Sharon just said, ‘I don’t know about this.’ She’d had enough. â€
Despite the friction, one program insider called Chen “the glue that holds the show together†and firmly placed the blame on Remini.
“[Remini] was a disruptive force,†the source said. “She had a huge morale problem,†adding that Remini often brought her mother on set, who refused to follow studio rules.
“Her mother never parked in her assigned space,†the insider said. “She was told not to park in the lot anymore. â€
Osbourne’s rep said she was “not reachable.†Remini’s agent said, “I don’t believe anyone’s option has been picked up. Her mom does go to the show every day as does Sara’s mom and Holly’s mom.â€
